Sudbury Quay Theatre
Horn Factory return to Sudbury Quay Theatre following a hugely successful performance here last year, bringing their electrifying brand of contemporary big band jazz back to one of Suffolk’s most intimate and engaging venues.
Since 1998, Horn Factory have been uniting outstanding jazz musicians from across the East of England to deliver fast-moving, hard-hitting, toe-tapping modern jazz. Their performances are driven, joyful and bursting with momentum, placing the full force of a big band right in front of the audience.
The Music
Expect a dynamic programme of contemporary big band jazz, featuring music by Buddy Rich, Bob Mintzer, James Morrison, Sammy Nestico and Gordon Goodwin, alongside big band reworkings of music more often associated with smaller groups, including pieces linked to Chick Corea and Horace Silver.
With most of the repertoire written in the last 15 years, this is big band jazz firmly rooted in the here and now, music that crackles with energy and rewards close listening.
The Venue
Sudbury Quay Theatre is a much-loved local venue, prized for its warm atmosphere and strong connection between performers and audience. Its close, informal setting makes it a perfect match for Horn Factory’s high-impact sound, allowing every detail to land with clarity and punch.
